It's getting HOT in here!

With warm weather approaching and a few days of temps in the hot house reaching 100 degrees we decided to open up the other side. It was amazing how quickly the temperature dropped.
The pea pods started coming in this week and unbelievably we actually have green peppers that will be ready for harvest in a few days.
If your a Mainer or live in a similar climate you realize just how much the hoop house has increased our growing season. We typically do not have peppers until late June or July.
Maine Man has spent ENDLESS hours tending his crops and all his hard work has paid off as we gather greens on a daily basis.
P.S Since I have LOTS of pictures to share I am going to be doing a series of short posts.

Very nice on the pepper. I'm trying my first year with a sort of "tall low tunnel hoophouse" with my garden. Hoping it will extend my season at both ends just a little, make things grow faster by keeping in heat and by helping to keep bugs out.

I won't get peppers as early as you have, but i'm hoping to get some vegetables and fruits just a bit sooner.

Such fun!

Wherever we end up next I want to build a simple hoop house. That is awesome you will have peppers already! I'd imagine in Maine it would help a lot to have a greenhouse of some sort.

Awesome! I am so jealous of your pepper...we aren't even in the ground yet (though we should be) so we are way behind...and a lot farther south!

Kim,

My hat's off to you and John. I don't check you blog often but each time I do, you two never fail to amaze me on your energy and talents. Did you make the hoop house yourself or was it a kit or part of a commercial greenhouse?

Thanks for all the comments!
Charlie, we bought it used from an old run down greenhouse business just down the way. We took it down last Spring and reassembled here last fall. John did not plant in it until Feb of this year. It really has increased our growing season a lot.
