This little girl is a spit fire! She played in the hose then made mud angels in the garden. My mother would have flipped had she been here. Our parenting styles are VERY different. A chilly day last week the kids asked to go in the pool and I said "go for it." My mother scowled at me and said "what?". I said, "they won't be in long, watch." Within seconds there stood two dripping, happy, popsicles.
I learned early on that it is best to pick and choose your battles.
Are they going to get hurt? No, then GO FOR IT!
Don't you love that look on her face? I often warn friends to send there kids over in play clothes because they are sure to get dirty. They NEVER let me down! This was a warm sunny day and she and Leah went upstairs in search for bathing suits. Down they came dressed in gymnastic leotards. A while later I realized she had put it on upside down. We all had a good laugh and then they headed up to change for the zillionth time.
On a final thought, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all!

Great shots, Welcome to the Challenge...:-)
Great series. I particularly love the third picture. That look on the girls face is priceless!
lol @ third photo too, her face! She's thinking "I'm gonna hug you and make you dirty for laughing at my upside-down leotard". Brilliant shot
haha cute dogs, that's a perfect shot
you take lovely portraits :)
That little girl is adorable! Great pics.
Great photo of the girl and water! The mud looks like fun too!
your outlook on raising kids is right on! it helps them learn to be in charge of making their own choices.
Excellent photos
Great shots! Such energy and joy.
Happy Mother's Day!
She looks like a little spitfire! Love the water pic. Awesome job!
That first shot is great!!!
Great shots. The dogs are too cute! Sweet girls as well.
You are an excellent photographer! I think one of the best gifts you can give a parent is a picture of their kids that they didn't have to take themselves!
Your parenting style sounds a lot like mine! Recently my husband asked Mayla to go put on something that could get dirty if she wanted to help him in the freshly tilled garden. She came down in her underwear! "I want to really feel the dirt!" was her explanation. Sounds fine to me!
Lovely shots! :D Great Work!
Great pics. Love them all.
Mud angels! Genius! I, too, think that childhood should be about being able to get dirty. My kids spent the whole day in the creek yesterday and were filthy (and happy) head-to-toe.
Great images, Kim!
Very nicely done!
Great shots! Love the one of the dogs...who woulda thought!? ;)
Cute kids and dog. Love the look on her face!! But the fist one is my favourite.
WV was: shindig
those kids were having their own shindig by the looks of it.
that would be "first" one. no fists involved.
The girls are definitely photogenic! I like the tension the dogs create with their tug of war!
I love your pics and also love to see kids play and get dirty. Looks like lots of fun! Great job.
Dirty little leggs - too cute!
What a wonderful expression on the little girl splattered with mud..she has a bit of an "Yes, I dare" look on her face! Great water shot too! Good job! :)
I love your blog! I happened upon it some time ago and have followed it since then.
I'm still laughing at the pics you posted. Great job!
Cute photos!
Oh girl, I'm with you on the "Go for it" parenting style!! :) Wonderful pics!
Great photos! I love the water hose! How adorable! thats the kind of photo you'd find in a magazine
Oh I love the pics, especially the kids-in-mud ones! I'm totally with you on different parenting styles than my own parents ...I have a picture of my girl when she was five or so, filthy in dirt from head to toe, holding a stick and yelling "wooooo!!!!!!"...which was often her pose. And yes on the playclothes, which I asked that parents send over with their kids because the first place they headed was to the flowerbed to dig holes, fill them with water, and it went on from there. Hey, it's called childhood! :)
Happy mom's day to you!
