What do you think?

This morning I picked up Oreo and John and I laid him to rest. The kids are doing good, thanks for all your kind words. I also received an autopsy report and they did take pictures. I asked John what he thought about me posting the pics and the autopsy report and he did not think I should post the pictures. Being an ER nurse I have no issues with graphic pictures and but I'm not sure how the rest of the world feels and I would not want to upset someone. People learn from their own experiences and from those of others and if a goats life can be saved by this post than that would make it all worth it.
Should I make a post with the autopsy report and pictures, just the report, or no post regarding this? What are your thoughts? I will post based on the feedback I get from you all.

  2. My vote is with pictures. If people can't take it, they shouldn't be reading a livestock post, they should be watching a Disney movie. This is part of owning animals. I've seen the insides of lots of different animals, healthy and sick, but never a goat.

    Report + pictures! please??

  3. Post the pictures - just be sure to put a disclaimer at the top for those of us with queasy stomachs. ;-)

  4. I guess it depends on *why* you want to post the pictures. Is there something you want your readers specifically to see and learn? If so, then yes, absolutely. Post the pictures with your blog post and, like someone else said, state at the beginning that graphic photos will be shared. That's my opinion.

  5. Can you e-mail me the results. It won't bother me at all if you post the pictures since I have seen a necropsy ( that's what it's called for animals ) done on a ewe that we had here on our farm, he did it right here outside of one of our pastures and he asked if it would offend me if I watched it being done and my Mom said no and I have seen a c-section done on a goat and the female vet asked if I would like to sit and watch it being done and it didn't bother me at all so my Mom and I got to see a c-section being performed on a goat.

  6. Post the pictures at the bottom of the post with a disclaimer at the top. Anyone grossed out by the photos would have fair warning. Personally I think it would be very educational and I am very interested in such things. Goat innards are rather complex so it would be a very good learning experience.

  7. Post your pictures. It is part of good stewardship to share with others what could be preventable in health care decisions or selection of stock.

So sorry that you lost the little guy.

I vote for the pictures. I agree with Amy that you should post with a disclaimer at the top.

  11. THANKS FOR ALL YOU FEEDBACK!
I AM GLAD I TOOK A POLL FIRST.
WARREN WE WERE ON THE SAME PAGE. AFTER READING SOME OF THE FEEDBACK I COULD SEE THAT A SEPARATE LINK WOULD BE BEST.
