I have never been much for hot tea or cold tea until recently. My girl loves tea, she even has her own little cabinet plump full of assorted tea bags. Any how….I came across
this post on Pinterest……How I LOVE thee! Although I will admit to drinking a diet
crackpepsi now and again I have been making and slurping down this tea on a regular basis.
1/2 gallon of water
4 tea bags (I like the fruity stuff!)
1/4-1/2 cup of sugar
Heat water to boil with tea bags, turn heat off, add sugar. Steep for 4 hours or if your me an eternity. I initially started with the1/2 cup of cane sugar but I’ve slowly weaned myself down to less than 1/4 cup as suggested by my sister in-law. She said “you won’t miss it” and she was right. I have also used maple syrup as well for a sugar substitute.
Cool and serve in a glass overflowing with ice……

I like sweet tea and looked up a recipe on allrecipes.com that I think was a gallon of tea with 2 cups of sugar. That's a lot of sweet that I really don't need. So I started tweeking. And I am now boiling water and then putting 6 tea bags in a 2 cups measure with water for at least 15minutes. I also put 3T sugar in a 1/2 gallon jar with a little hot water to dissolve the sugar. Then I dump the tea into the jar and keep filling the cup with fresh water to pour into the jar until it's full. When I drink it, I put at least 1/2 glass of ice cubes and most of that melts before I'm done. I'm not a coffee drinker. I have trouble drinking a regular soft drink for the sweetness anymore, but I'm not totally sold on water all the time. Are you just using regular tea bags for your tea? I wondered about using more flavored tea, but I probably drink it too fast to keep myself in tea. Also wondered about green tea... any thoughts on that?
oops. just went back to read and see that you do use fruity tea. do you get a lot more flavor if you steep it a lot longer?
I would say it does make it stonger.
