There is nothing like the feeling that you get when you step into the greenhouse. Warmth, brightness, moisture and the smell of earth. LOVE it!
Maine Man made a raised bed on one side of the greenhouse. In the raised bed he planted bok choy, spinach, swiss chard, carrots, beets, kale, onions, and lettuce. This week we plan to place an extra cover over the crops at night with the predicted drop in temperatures.
Cocoa has been creating lots of fertilizer for the gardens. It will not be long before he is out to pasture. After MUCH shopping around MM picked up and electric fence. Thanks to his frugal ways he saved over $100. I forsee the assembly of that as a future post.
I love bok choy and have used it in a lot of recipes. Chinese Chicken Salad, egg rolls, spring rolls, pot stickers. I like it over lettuce any day but spinach is still my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI love the green house, it is a goal of mine to have one.
Our plants are getting a beating this weekend, we have very windy weather! My peas look like yours though, so that is promising ;)
ReplyDeleteThat all sounds so wonderful. I have never even eaten bok choy, I am curious about it. I can't wait to hear how you use it. I have seen it called for in a lot of good looking recipes.
ReplyDeleteThe pictures you took of the chicks hatching are great. What a wonderful learning experience for the kids.
Nice pictures!

Mix together 1/2 cup vinegar, 1 cup oil and 1/2 cup sugar. Pour over items in bowl. Break up by hand Ramen noodles into bowl and do not cook the noodles or use the flavor packet inside. Shake and stir salad very well.
Looks great! Really glad that you guys got the greenhouse.
ReplyDeleteI love bok choy, we ate a lot of that growing up. You can stir-fry it(whole or cut up, depending on the size) with chicken or shrimp or whatever else that you want to add to it. You can make an Asian style noodle soup and add bok choy to it. I found this recipe link: http://rasamalaysia.com/restaurant-style-chinese-greens-with
This is a very common chinese dish. Very simple and delicious! That's the way my mom makes it too.
